Abstracted Geographies
Commission Proposal: A suspended sculpture within a three storey atrium of a new hospital.
The colour and shape of the clusters are derived from topography and settlements in the area served by the hospital.
The proposed installation consists of 250 hand blown glass and glazed ceramic forms. The forms illuminate and fade, reacting to the presence of people in the space, and the patterns of natural daylight.
This proposal is the product of collaboration with a product designer, interactive audio artist and graphic designer; members of Sparks, a multi-discipinary partnership. Our submission for this £50,000 public art commission, was short-listed to the final two.
